Some interesting analysis of the Irish Deal a Day Market

Last week, Shane Hayes (Sift.ie) posted an article on the growth of Deal a Day websites in Ireland. Sift.ie are a deal aggregation website. In other words, they bring together deals from all of the various Deal a Day sites in one location. This puts them in a position to estimate the volume of sales and the average sales value for each of the main players in the Irish market. It should be noted that the figures are purely estimates based on Sift.ie’s analysis of the marketplace.

Some Headline Figures:

-Daily Deal Market in Ireland Worth €2.1 Million in June – a 67% increase from May

-The average price paid per deal increased from just under €20 to over €26

-CityDeal pushed through the €1 Million in revenue mark and maintained their market share at just under 50%

What is this telling us?

Group Deal advertising has become an established method of business promotion in Ireland. As yet there is no sign of the market slowing down. We have a lot of new group deal providers entering the market (TodayFMDeals to mention one). Overtime the competition from providers should give business owners more choice and leave them paying a lower commission.

Hi Des,

Yes the growth has been astounding. Of particular note to my mind is the traction gained by GrabOne – Zero to 4% of the market in 6 weeks. Just shows the extent of the power of an Old Media brand like the Independent.
